Assignment: Oil & Gas Investor Magazine
In the hills of southwest Pennsylvania near the West Virginia border, signs of emerging and sunset industries: long, plodding coal trains, listless mill towns and gleaming office parks built around the recent surge in the gas fracking industry. Three days of nearly constant rain made shooting a challenge as I covered two oil rigs and a gas "frack pad" by truck and helicopter. Oil and Gas Investor Magazine was co-founded and illustrated by luminary National Geographic photographer Lowell Georgia, now retired. Cover Story by Steve Toon.

Posse Poster
One of my favorite non-profits, the Posse Foundation sends groups of urban students to colleges together in "posses" to help insure high success rate. Posse Foundation was the brainchild of MacArthur Genius Award recipient Deborah Bial. This composite photo made into a five foot poster includes the six Boston posses headed to Union College (my hometown of Schenectady, NY), Brynn Mawr College, Bucknell University, Denison University, Hamilton College and Centre College.
