In the hills of southwest Pennsylvania near the West Virginia border, signs of emerging and sunset industries: long, plodding coal trains, listless mill towns and gleaming office parks built around the recent surge in the gas fracking industry. Three days of nearly constant rain made shooting a challenge as I covered two oil rigs and a gas "frack pad" by truck and helicopter.
